Mandalpatti - KODAGU -MADIKERI [Snowless Alps]

Hello ! This is my first blog. And this is happening because my husband wants me to do a write up on this beautiful looking place which we visited this time during our vacation in Kodagu (also called Coorg). This place I am talking about is called Mandalpatti. Spectacular is the word I would like to describe this place.

We are born Kodavas. Proud to say that because this place is one of the naturally beautiful places in the southern part of India. We have seen many places in Coorg, but this one is a must visit. So the next time you look up a place to travel in India, type in Coorg Mandalpatti on your browser 😋..

How do we get here !

From Bangalore, you could take a bus which goes to Madikeri (also known as Mercara). Once you reach the government bus stop, call up your stay place, drop in your luggage, freshen up, put on your treking shoes and get going. If your taking an Auto Rickshaw ask the guy to take you to Mandalpatti. It's about 18kms from Madikeri town. There are enough and more sign boards on your way to ensure you are in the right direction.

Once you reach on top of Mandalpatti, you will find the refreshment place which has drinking water, coconut water and some snacks which are sold by the local vendors. Get off the vehicle you are in and there begins your actual trek.

I would prefer a walk, but I also hear that there are many Jeeps which will help you commute to the top most point of Mandalpatti. (You have to pay them roughly 1000 to 1500Rs. a trip). In other words it's the snowless Swiss. The beautiful mountains, lush greenery, mesmerizing blue sky and the fresh air. Boy !! You don't want to miss it. You will feel on top of the world - I bet. There are many view points as you climb uphill. The roads are not that great. It's a bit muddy. And if you go after 9am it could be very sunny. So I would suggest you go there early in the morning. This place opens around 6am to 6pm. You will also get to see the misty hills if you are lucky and early. So make it a point to wake up early and catch a great site which will lead you to a beautiful day ahead.

I have some pictures to give you a glimpse of what you will be seeing once you're there. All I want to say is - VISIT MANDALPATTI !!
